I purchased my very first planner in 2009; I was in high school and used it to keep track of assignments/tests and my part-time job. It was just a simple black leather planner that I bought at Wal-Mart; since then, I have used a planner every year. I live a pretty hectic life as I work full-time, attend university part-time, work out with a trainer three times a week and volunteer with two organizations, so my planner definitely helps keep me organized and on track.
About two years ago I noticed bloggers and YouTubers decorating their planners, which I was all for. Today, I have my own collection of stickers, washi tapes, and stock cards.
For Christmas 2015, I was given my current planner, a kikki K large Time Planner, it was definitely an investment but I love it and still use it to this day. If you are planning on using washi tape and stock cards, this type of planner with coil rings comes in handy as you can remove the pages to decorate them. It also has pockets inside the front cover to hold extra stickers or cards.
For this week, I decided to use a washi tape with gold heart decals since Valentine’s Day is coming up, then paired it along with just a gold sparkly tape.
Once I have the edges of the pages covered, I start playing around with stickers that match the border. You will notice that I keep the stickers to a minimum, that’s due to the fact that I use a lot of space for writing and they can get in the way.
I typically set aside time on Sunday evenings to decorate my planner and get organized for the week ahead.
